AREAS OF SUPPORT

What can we work on together?

You do not need to know psychological terminology to seek support. What matters is what you are experiencing and what you would like to change.

01

Relationships between adult children and parents

Relationships with parents can remain difficult well into adulthood. Excessive control, unsolicited advice, interference in decisions, resentment and recurring conflict can make respectful communication challenging.

Control · Overprotection · Conflict
02

Personal boundaries and independence

Is it hard to say no, express a different opinion or make decisions without a relative’s approval? Do you feel guilty when you make your own choices? These patterns can be explored and gradually changed.

Boundaries · Guilt · Independence
03

Emotional regulation

Do disagreements trigger intense irritation? Do you raise your voice or say things you later regret? Working with thoughts, emotions and behaviours can help you build self-regulation skills.

Irritability · Impulsivity · Self-control
04

Support for relatives of people with addictions

When someone close to you struggles with addiction, family life can become dominated by worry, conflict and attempts to control their behaviour. Counselling can help clarify boundaries, responsibilities and ways to care for yourself.

Boundaries · Responsibility · Support
MY APPROACH

What happens in a consultation?

Sometimes you know exactly what is troubling you, yet you keep responding in familiar ways: giving in again, becoming angry again or trying to control someone else.

I use methods drawn from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Together, we explore specific situations and the links between thoughts, emotions and behaviour — not only to understand what is happening, but also to practise responding differently.

“

When useful, small practical exercises between sessions help apply new skills in everyday life. The aim is not to change your relatives, but to help you change your own responses, decisions and ways of relating.
